Outer Banks Karaoke Competition
If you can carry a tune and love to sing then you must participate in the Jolly Roger Karaoke here in the Outer Banks. Not just are you going to enjoy the fantastic food and drink at the Jolly Roger but your musical talent could take you places…really.
Outer Banks Karaoke Preliminary Rounds
The Jolly Roger is an Official Outer Banks Qualifier for the Talent Quest Karaoke championship. The difference is you get to “audition” here in the Outer Banks without cruel high profile judges like on television. Yes, there is judging but a fast visit to the Jolly Roger bar should raise your spirits (excuse the play on words).
Time is running out
You now have less than 4 weeks to qualify.
Every Wednesday night, assemble your pirate crew and come to the Jolly Roger. Have no fear as everyone is in the same boat as you are (again, excuse the pun). There are only 4 more chances to qualify for the finals!!! Register at 7pm and be prepared to sing at 9pm!!
Your path to Karaoke glory and more
If you qualify. If you are deemed vocally worthy you move onto the regional round. From there you will compete in the National round.
King Karaoke of the Outer Banks
This is not an official title but if you go to regionals you know that you are representing the OBX, proudly of course. You bring all the hopes and dreams of other armchair lounge singers to the regional, and hopefully national level.

Karaoke Tips
Here are a few Karaoke tips to help you
- Remember a little drama goes a long way. Not just do you have to sing it but you have to sell it.
- Know thy music. If you get a famous song make sure it isn’t a song where no one knows a specific verse. An example of this is Eye of the Tiger.
- Work the crowd. Average vocals with crazy good stage presence might be enough.
- Have fun.
- Don’t over indulge before going on stage. You don’t want to pass out or slur your words, whether you are in the pirate lounge or not.
- Remember the other singers are as nervous as you are.
