I once heard the greatest word in the English language is FREE. To a parent the words Kids Eat Free brings a sigh of relief. It costs money to entertain your children. They need to go places and do things and that..costs some cash. But not here:
Kidsfest is FREE
This includes a host of activities including:
- ice cream
- snowballs
- face painting
- music
- interactive percussion petting zoo (totally safe…referring to instruments)
- arts and crafts
- bubbles
- municipal trucks (hey a big fire engine is like Barney to these kids)
Did I say Kidsfest was no charge:)
Special events for kids 5 and Under
Kidsfest is ideal for little kids, tourist or local. You have a place for them to run around. You have lots of sound. You have lots of mess (snowballs and face painting). The only thing missing is you and your child.
Look Touch Feel without getting in trouble
What is a percussion petting zoo?
The official description of a percussion petting zoo is a unique collection of instruments allowing young people to interact with the different sounds. Now that is the official definition. The parent definition would be:
Ways to keep your kid happy and busy without fear of destroying things
Hey, its a drum, they can hit it as hard as they want. Once the children start hitting the drum 2 things will happen:
- its gonna get noisy in the Outer Banks
- Your child will be enthralled with the chance to hit that drum
So when and where is Kidsfest Children’s Festival in the Outer Banks?
Roanoke Island Festival Park
9:30-12:30
Hey when my kids were little, you couldn’t keep me away from this one
See Kidsfest for yourself
Here is a clip of last years KidsFest and it looks phenomenal. Happy children. Big firetrucks for boys to play in. Percussion. Sno cones. Weather permitting (rain day is the 20th) it looks like a fantastic day at the park.

2014 Kidsfest Video
Here is a 2014 clip I saw pulled from Outer Banks TV. Lots of stuff to do. Lots of messy things for your kids to get their hands dirty with.
